
 Reata Equine Veterinary Group is an exclusively equine veterinary practice in Tucson, Arizona.
All of us at Reata Equine Veterinary Group share a deep love for horses. The entire staff is committed to providing the best quality medical and wellness care for your horse. Reata has been caring for Southern Arizona horses for over 30 years. We believe in building lasting relationships with our clients and the horses who love them.
We offer 24/7 stall side emergency care. With three veterinarians, technicians, and a full office staff we are able to respond to emergencies with the urgency they require, and provide the ongoing health and wellness care your horse deserves.
The Reata office and dispensary is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Prescription pharmacy services are available only for clients of Reata Equine Veterinary Group. The dispensary stocks a variety of non prescription health care products including: topical treatments, bandaging products, fly control, nutriceuticals, hoof care, first aid kits, and many other over-the-counter items.
Our field service area is limited to Southern Arizona. Services are available at our breeding station on a haul in basis for owners outside of the service area. Appointments can be made by calling the office at 520-749-1446.

Michael W. Conaway, DVM
Dr. Conaway has been caring for Southern Arizona horses for over 30 years. He grew up with horses in Scottsdale, Arizona and decided to become an equine veterinarian at an early age. Receiving both a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Animal Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Science with honors from Washington State University he stayed at Washington State University to receive his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with honors in 1978.
Returning to Arizona he and his wife settled in a small house near the University of Arizona and founded Reata Equine. Dr. Conaway and Barbara have resided in Tucson since. They have two children, the oldest Jessica is an attorney in Phoenix and the youngest John is a recent college graduate working in media in Tucson.
Dr. Conaway's special interests include equine reproduction, infertility problems, lameness, and laminitis.
Dr. Conaway strongly believes in the importance of education. He taught equine science for many years at Pima Community College, writes health care articles published on this web site, attends veterinary conferences regularly and gives educational seminars to local horse owners throughout the year.
Dr. Conaway keeps regular appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Ann M. Pearson, DVM, MS
Dr. Ann Pearson joined the Reata Equine Veterinary Group in August 2007. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 1989 and holds a Masters Degree in Animal Science and Nutrition. While at Purdue University she received the prestigious Large Animal Medicine and Surgery Award, presented to the student showing the most promise in large animal practice. Dr Pearson has been practicing in Southern Arizona since 1999. Prior to coming to Tucson she worked in both small and large animals. After graduation from veterinary school she worked for an equine practice in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Pearson has a special interest in equine dentistry, reproduction and ophthalmology. On the personal side, Dr. Pearson is an avid horsewoman. She enjoys riding dressage and is a member of the Tucson Dressage Society. Dr. Pearson and her three boys live on the east side of Tucson.
Dr Ann Pearson keeps regular appointments on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Sara D. Brooks, DVM
Originally from Tucson and raised with horses, Dr Brooks volunteered at Reata Equine as a high school student. She traveled to Colorado State University and obtained her DVM from Colorado State University in 2007. While at CSU she completed an externship at Arizona Equine. Dr Brooks has rejoined the veterinary team at Reata.
She has special interests in equine reproduction, equine medicine and emergency medicine. During Dr. Brooks off hours she enjoys riding, and spending time with her many animals. She, her husband, and their 5 cats share a home in Northwest Tucson.
Dr. Brooks keeps regular appointments on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
