 Equine Wellness program
Reata Equine wants to be the team leader for the health care and wellness of your horse.
Our wellness program offers you a variety of services at a reasonable price.
A managed wellness program is an important tool for prevention of unnecessary illness and expense. These days it takes an entire team to care for your horse - i.e. your veterinarian, your farrier, perhaps a barn manager or trainer, the feed salesman and you.
The cornerstone of our program is the physical exam. During the physical exam, our doctors will thoroughly examine your horse's mouth, eyes, ears, legs, heart, lungs, and evaluate intestinal motility. At this time we also evaluate nutrition, body condition, and environment. During the exam you will have the opportunity to express any concerns you may have and ask the doctor questions. We will then administer vaccinations, deworm your horse, collect samples for laboratory tests, and leave the remaining doses of dewormer for you to administer over the course of the year. Each dose will be labeled with the month of recommended administration.
All of us at Reata Equine Veterinary Group recognize the economic difficulty most horse owners are experiencing. In 2008 in order to maintain the high level of care we provide we instituted a temporary program to help horse owners. If your horse is on our well care program, Reata Equine will donate seasonal wormer for your horse at no charge. This includes a dose of ivermectin at the time of the visit and a feed wormer for three months. In addition we are offering a substantial discount on routine blood work and dentistry. Please contact our office for details, 749-1446.
